[edit]Although he is described as "Elector of Hesse", the more correct appelation is "Prince Elector of Hesse", Prince-elector being the literal translation of Kurfürst.
The Holy Roman Empire being abolished in 1806, neither he nor his successors were "Electors" after that year. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.206.122.30 (talk) 02:57, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
