[edit]William Henry is an important piece of information into the life of Patrick Henry and the entire genealogy of the Henry family. There is a lot of mystery surrounding William Henry, particularly surrounding who he married and whether or not he left any living descendants. Despite the mysteriousness of William Henry, it is certainly agreed upon that he was an influential person in Fluvanna County, Virginia, during his time, if not for the mere fact that he is Patrick Henry's brother.
Thank you for your time. :)

- When I nominated this article for deletion, it had no references to prove the subject's notability. But now I see that a book reference has been added. I now feel some notability has been established. While I do think this article needs additional sources, I am content enough to remove the deletion tag. Thank you for your contributions, and happy editing. Cheers, Mazeau (talk) 02:20, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

William Henry (brother of Patrick Henry) → William Henry —The relationship to someone else is not needed in an article title. This should be noted in the article itself. Cheers, Mazeau (talk) 02:29, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- Then how would you disambiguate him from the other William Henries? — AjaxSmack 02:39, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose. The usual method of naming pages about obscure persons is to use their vitals. The article title should be William Henry (1734-1785). --Una Smith (talk) 02:55, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- Should it not be "William Henry (Virginia representative)"? Cheers, Mazeau (talk) 03:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think Mazeau's suggestion, William Henry (Virginia representative), would be the best disambiguator here. Being the brother of someone isn't a defining characteristic. While Una Smith's proposal would uniquely identify this one from other William Henrys, I think no reader is going to know the birth and death years of the person they're looking for, and therefore they would better recognize William Henry (Virginia representative) from a disambiguation page than William Henry (1734-1785). - Oppose. — WP:NCP provides clear guidance on how to disambiguate names, and this isn't it. Reinventing the wheel in this area is sure to cause significant confusion, which is the reasoning for the overly prescriptive guideline at WP:Naming conventions (people).
— V = I * R (talk) 19:14, 19 August 2009 (UTC) - Oppose. We obviously can't move it to William Henry, no matter how bizarre the current disambiguation is. Choose a better disambiguator and propose that move instead; otherwise, we'll get all sorts of votes on all sorts of proposals and no one will be able to sort it all out. - Oppose I do not think overwriting a dab page with this obscure fellow is a proper thing to do, since I certainly wouldn't be looking for this particular WH. 76.66.192.144 (talk) 11:51, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose as not the primary topic. I would support William Henry (Virginia representative) or William Henry (burgess), although if he's most notable as Patrick's brother (see above), this may not be the worst title. Station1 (talk) 19:24, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
