This article stub is inaccurate. Hastings Bass started training in the '70s with reasonable success but then stopped for a number of years (wanted to travel the world I believe)before returning in the '80s. He did not start training at West Ilsley until 1989, so the dates in the article are wrong. Sorry I can't be more precise, but a little research into Horses in Training back copies should reveal the truth. (Victor Middlesex (talk) 02:23, 2 October 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Agreed. Got rid of my copies of Horses In Training long ago, sadly, but the Encylopaedia of Flat Racing from 1985 mentions that Hastings-Bass trained at Newmarket from 1977 to 1982, then trained near Sydney for a year before returning to Newmarket in 1984. He was training there when the book was published in 1985. Peter Willet's biog of Dick Hern mentions Ian Balding phoning Hastings-Bass at Newmarket in September 1988, guessing that the West Ilsley move was about to happen, so my assumption is that H-B trained at Newmarket continuously from 84 until he moved to W Ilsley. Will update the article when I have time. --Bcp67 (talk) 09:19, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
