[edit]@BD2412: I'm pretty sure that Gale was born in 1829 in New York [1] and died on February 12, 1899 in Brooklyn [2]. While that death notice is nothing on its own, the corresponding record [3]/[4] lists his occupation as lawyer. I don't believe there was another lawyer by the name of William Henry Gale, at least at the time, let alone in Brooklyn, where his practice was based, or with a matching age. Thoughts? - I think this is very likely. I have since found a substantial number of reports between 1892 and 1899 of William H. Gale acting as a judicial commissioner in various cases, and none after 1899. BD2412 T 18:07, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Star Garnet: I consider this confirmation. BD2412 T 04:02, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
