Conviction
[edit]I believe I read that Guilford himself was convicted of theft and providing alcohol and sentenced to hard labor in 1890 but I can't find the source. It seems many African Americans faced harassment and prosecutions so I don't quite know what to make of the case. I couldn't find details but saw witnesses were listed.
