Heenan and Froude
[edit]This is the same William Froude who invented the hydraulic dynamometer and who formed Heenan & Froude (Newton Heath in Manchester pre-1903 and Worcester) that produced hydraulic dynamometers?
[Heenan and Froude are now Froude Hoffman]
There seems to be no stub for Heenan and Froude but they are mentioned in the article for Worcester UK.

Pronounciation
[edit]I've always pronounced this as "Frowd" ...apparently wrongly. Is "Frood" correct? Or are either acceptable?
IPA guide given as /frud/ by Random House Unabridged Dictionary for J. A. Froude.

Okay, also at brother James Anthony Froude. But perhaps add to article head? —DIV (128.250.204.118 06:45, 6 November 2007 (UTC))
- Done. I too had to use the brother for the citation.--Old Moonraker 07:41, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- It is properly pronounced 'Frood', to rhyme with 'rude'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.11.183 (talk) 13:53, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
New memorial
[edit]Froude has a new memorial in Torquay.[1][2] The old one was made of bronze and lasted from 1954 to 2010. The new one is not made of bronze, probably due to the depressing fact that anything made of bronze left outdoors in Britain nowadays will be stolen for scrap metal before very long.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:07, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
