Monument speech
[edit]It is not quite clear whether the words on the monument were actually uttered, or whether they were a reconstruction after the event. Cf. John Timbs, English Eccentrics and Eccentricities, Vol. I, London 1866, pp. 1-2 and 22-23.--Kauko56 (talk) 11:09, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Peter Beckford death date
[edit]"Peter Beckford died in 1712" is stated in the article however the page Peter Beckford (junior) linked in the article states the date as 1735.
I think I've clarified that now. There were a lot of Peter Beckfords in that family!Mikesiva (talk) 16:03, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Yes slavery is bad but the fact that the header is primarily only about his ownership of slaves rather than the more important elements of his life is utterly laughable. It should be more balanced and NPOV. The Mummy (talk) 10:35, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
