[edit]The reasons for retaining this article are as follows:
William Alexander Mouat was an early pioneer and settler in British Columbia; he was an explorer who investigated new steamship navigation on Canadian lakes and rivers; he was involved in the border disputes between Canada and America; and he captained a ship which was wrecked off San Francisco. The article on the Labouchere paddle steamer has a cross-reference to him.
