4 symphonies?
[edit]Alfred Dörffel's book of music played by the Leipzig G. from 1781-1881 -- Geschichte der Gewandhausconcerte zu Leipzig vom 25. November 1781 bis 25. November 1881 at Google Books, -- lists on page 72, 3 symphonies by Taubert- F major from 1846, B minor 1851 (just uploaded recently to a Danish site and now to IMSLP also, op.80- I'm guessing, -hopefully- correctly, that it's sym. 2, but I guess I shouldn't guess...) , C minor 1856. Was there a 4th not performed or written in Leipzig during that period 1781-1881, and where does it fit in (before these three? After? Somewhere inside? Did he compose the 4th after 1881? Thanks!) As to 4 quartets, Hofmeister Monatsbericht lists nos. 2, 3 and 4... but I am now curious about no. 1 :) - the key and op. no. - just because I get curious about those things, though. Edit: according to a discussion at unsungcomposers.com , Taubert wrote 6 symphonies (source: Fétis.) The b minor op.80 is no. 4. Schissel | Sound the Note! 19:03, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
