Soviet Troop Numbers
[edit]This except is nonsense "They faced 1.5 million Soviet troops". Amount of Russian troops that were involved directly in city fights were several hundreds thousand men. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.150.58.61 (talk) 18:36, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- It is not "nonsense" if one knows the context of the information. For the investment and assault on the Berlin Defence Area about 1,500,000 Soviet soldiers were allocated. That was the number for the city and surrounding area. See: Beevor (2002), p. 287. I re-wrote the text so it is better understood by readers. Kierzek (talk) 19:53, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Peiper
[edit]Please correct references to Joachim Peiper's rank. He was Obersturmbannfuehrer (Lieutenant Colonel), promoted to Standartenfuehrer (Colonel) in January 1945, just before his 30th birthday, which made him the youngest Staf. and hence regimental commander, but that was after the Ardennes offensive.71.185.118.64 (talk) 15:40, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Correcting my own error--Peiper received the Swords to the Knight's Cross in January 1945 (as Obersturmbannfuehrer), and was promoted to colonel (Standartenfuehrer) on 20 April 1945. 71.175.179.190 (talk) 18:04, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Place of death
[edit]There is a discrepancy between the German and English Wikipedia version and of course in the end credits of the movie Downfall (Der Untergang) A today's telephone call in civil register office in the town called "Damp" (near Eckernfoerde / Kiel) shows that there is no entry in the Register of Deaths, neither under the name "Wilhelm Mohnke" nor with the date (06.08.2001). Generally nobody dies in Damp on the specific date. As a rumor it could be that W.M. had a secondary residence in Damp, beside Hamburg. But as it seems, Damp is not the correct place of death. I'll check if Hamburg-Rahlstedt is correct. Kind regards Andre (Kieler1969@gmx.de) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.217.100.106 (talk) 13:52, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- Info. I have found on him; Burial: Damp Friedhof Schleswig
- Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Kierzek (talk) 19:20, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! But from which source is this info!? Official register or private investigations? "Damp Friedhof Schleswig" for Burial makes, honestly spoken, no sense. Either "Damp" or "Schleswig" - between these towns is a distance of approx. 40Km .

- I was going from memory when I first replied here; I checked and this is the place; Its from "Find A Grave". Kierzek (talk) 15:46, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Would it be possible to be a little more precise, please...!? Just make a posting with the link from this page. There are thousands of entries! Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.142.42.251 (talk) 17:03, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Hitler Diaries
[edit]A number of web pages talking about the forged Hitler Diaries also mention Mohnke. How was he involved? MisterBee1966 (talk) 20:41, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- I recall he was one of the "bunker survivors" who was asked to authenticate the diaries and came out stating they were fake to the author/forger before many of the historians, such as, Trevor-Roper. Kierzek (talk) 22:29, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
