will comply
[edit][I moved this material from the article page... Deh (talk) 15:29, 6 November 2008 (UTC)]
If the word comply is correct, wilco should be then spell as "wilcom" instead. The word "comply" do not carry a direct "Yes" or "No" intention to do something or not. It violate the principal in radio procedures (early days), to express the intention of one side to the other in minimum words. This word do carry a promise of "Yes, will do" and there is no compliance of anything inside. If it is not being promise, radio operators will not use other words instead.
Please talk to old soldiers, pilots, and ship radio operators that is at least 60 years old. They are those person who invent this word and they will tell you how this word come from.
If you didn't, there is no point to define this word with a imaginative meaning and insist this is the true of all.

As a former member of the military, WILCO is a radio term which we used to express "Will Comply". I don't understand the argument of the individual above. Words used on the radio are often chosen specifically so they do NOT sound like OTHER words which may be used. The original phonetic alphabet uses some strange/unusual words, exactly for this reason. If "WILCO" was once "WILCOM" (if that's that the individiaul above believes? Maybe it was, I don't know), it has changed over the years to simply WILCO. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.92.172.54 (talk) 21:02, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- WILCO is covered at procedure word, so would seem that it should be listed here. -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 07:23, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
