As part of the December 2011 backlog elimination drive, I will be reviewing the article. Thanks, —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 16:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
Original research:
- Final paragraph of Background and inspiration.
Manual of style
- The lead must be reduced to one to two paragraphs maximum, per WP:LEAD and the article's prose size of 9 KB. I suggest reducing the composition info in the lead.
- "which are said to be" - WP:WEASELWORDS; be specific on who said it is such and such
- MOS:LAYOUT discourages small sections. I suggest removing the subheadings in Reception.
- Numbers above 9 are written as numerals per WP:MOSNUM. Pay attention in the Chart performance section.
- Charts and certification tables need formatting per WP:ACCESS.
Prose issues
- "with the latter also producing the track." - clumsy prose. "Priscilla Renea wrote the song with Emanuel Kiriakou, who produced the track."
- Remove the words "several" and "numerous". They are considered too vague.
- "The song charted in the top thirty in the United States" - "thirty" -> "30"
- "the band released their debut album, Kiss & Tell, and quickly followed-up" – commas not needed.
- "After the release of the latter Gomez said that she was not in a rush" - comma after "latter"
- "Gomez would later call the song 'fun and empowering,' commenting 'Every time I sing this song, I'm like, 'I feel better already!'" - there should be a single quote mark (') after "already!" and there should be a comma after "commenting". The comma in "fun and empowering" should be moved to after the quotation mark.
- iTunes Countdown does not need to be in italics.
- "
as inwhereas the previous were dance-pop and club-oriented, "Who Says" draws from the teen pop genre" - "Alfred Publishing Co., Inc." -> "Alfred Publishing"
- Why is "moderate" in quotation marks?
- "with Gomez's vocal range spanning" -> "as Gomez's vocal range spans"
- "AOL Radio Blog" should lead to "AOL Radio" not "AOL Music".
- "Bill Lamb of About.com said the song's positive message is" - Link About.com.
- "Bill Lamb of About.com said Gomez" - unlink About.com.
- "Additionally the song has reached number seventeen on the" - comma after "additionally".
- "The song's music video was directed by Chris Applebaum." - briefly describe who Applebaum is.
- "An eight second teaser of the video was released on March 2, 2011" - hyphen between "eight" and "second".
- "with several lyrics appearing" -> "as lyrics appear"
References
- FN 1 and 5: "MTV News" should not be in italics.
- FN 3: It is simply iTunes Store and is not italicized.
- FN 6: "(Musicnotes). Musicnotes.com." -> "Musicnotes.com."
- FN 8: AOL Radio instead."Inc" not needed.
- FN 10: Billboard, not Billboard.com.
- FN 11: Yahoo! Music should be linked but not italicized. Publisher is simply "Yahoo!"
- FN 16: AOL JSYK should not be in italics. "Inc" not needed.
- FN 20: Publisher is Time Warner actually. Website is Warner Bros. Television, not Ellen.warnerbros.com.
- FN 21: Zap2It needs to be non-italicized. "Inc" not needed.
- FN 22: Reliability?
- FN 23: Publisher is simply Buzz Media.
- FN 35-6: Incorrect italics.
- Link every instance of AOL for publishers.
Media
- The audio sample fails WP:NFCC#8; it does not illustrate a specific concept of the song. It should illustrate musical elements, not lyrics. Find a better caption or remove.

I notified the nominator that the article was on hold. (S)he has made edits since then, but not in response to my review. The GAN has thus failed, sorry. Feel free to address issues and re-nominate. Cheers, —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:49, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
