It turns out that Lenin used a full sentence, "who will overtake whom?". It was only Stalin who invoked "Lenin's phrase" by the now-familiar abbreviation (which conveniently and ominously leaves the verb to be supplied by the imagination). --dab (𒁳) 17:36, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
