Reviewer:--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me I think this article was unfairly failed last time. Editors weren't even given a chance. I don't think its fair for Legs to wait any longer :)--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 08:58, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ughh, dopnt call me Legs, as it is my wife uses that to tease me for my online name. — Legolas (talk2me) 09:27, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Lol, gotcha :) Beginning review--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 04:41, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Lead
[edit]- I think "produced by WB" is better
- Weird tense issues. Madonna played -> plays, was sent -> is sent
- hometown Philadelphia -> of
- wanted -> wants
- capture the people who framed her, and both of them get caught -> doesn't flow well
- till -> until
- was on halt -> halted
- eight years ago -> prior
- grossing in total of US $25 million, by playing in front of an audience of 1.5 million. -> Its not "an" audience, its not only one show, its various happening at different times. Also, reword a bit
- and Foley as a director -> and Foley's direction
- first week -> opening
- Done and copy-edited. It was 944 theatres, I re-checked. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Plot
[edit]- characteristic look -> ?
- Made it better. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- helps her find -> help
- the mountain lion -> don't see how this fits in. I haven't heard anything about it before now. What significance does it hold?
- It is there in the first para itself. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- There Nikki and Loudon -> there,
- expresses -> express
- Honestly, the last paragraph doesn't make much sense. I have not seen the film, and have a pretty good understanding until the last paragraph.
- Don't even make the mistake of watching the film if you don't wanna suicide. :) — Legolas (talk2me) 16:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see what purpose the free-media photo serves except eye-candy. It has no mention whatsoever in the section and really holds no significant importance, therefore failing I believe criteria 3a.
- It has mention in the filming and production section. A non-free image not necessarily has to be in that particular section, kinda like artwork and posters, even when their rationale and commentary may bein a separate section. And how can free-media images fail #3a? That is for NFCC, not commons. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Development
[edit]- Madonna's 1986 studio album True Blue was a critical and commercial success, spawning five top-five singles, and selling over eight million copies worldwide, by the year-end -> don't see why this is necessary to include, but if you prefer it, then leave it, I won't stop you.
- This line I purposefully inserted, as I believe it presents a stark contrast against Madonna's successful singing career, and how pathetic her film career was. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- as she wanted it to be -> she had hoped
Casting
[edit]- Good
Filming
[edit]- About her acting abilities -> regarding
- shooting the major scenes involving Madonna were over -> re-write
- in the set -> on
Release and promotion
[edit]- celebration was planned -> planned makes it sound like it never happened, which it obviously did
- Musically and technically superior -> how so musically?
- huge -> I personally don't like the word huge
- Madonna named the tour as Who's That Girl, when during rehearsals one-day she looked at a gigantic image of herself, projected on a screen on the stage -> I don't get it
- U.S. -> US - MOS
- audience -> audience members
- was the second top female concert -> top selling
Critical response
[edit]- The film received mixed reviews from critics -> you wrote before it was a "critical failure"
- First quote is a bit long. Should paraphrase or reduce bulk, or blockquote.
Critical reception
[edit]- a total of 944 theaters -> you wrote 1,000 before. Be consistent.
- once incident -> one
- Source for Razzys?
Soundtrack
[edit]- uptempo song and a downtempo song -> other wording would be better
References
[edit]- Some of your Harvard links are broken, like #49
Overall
[edit]- There you go Legolas, let me know when its all fixed :)--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 10:24, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
