Silly thing to say

[edit]

Andrew Billen in The Times said that he had warmed to it more and more, adding, "slowly, the show is making ripperologists of us all, as the Jack's 'canonical' murders are separated from the ones he actually committed. It is all in the worst possible taste and bloody good fun." Canonical means the ones he did commit!!! Surely a Times journo knows that? 86.135.147.229 (talk) 01:05, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all. He is just comparing the fictional "Jack" character in the programme with the real "Jack".--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 01:17, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Factual accuracy

[edit]

Am I the only one who finds the current entry a little on the trivial side? If not that then I certainly feel it is given a questionable amount of WP:Weight. -182.239.131.242 (talk) 13:16, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know

[edit]

Does anyone know why the DVDs of this ITV series have the BBC logos come up when you load the DVD and when the episodes finish? There is no BBC logo on the packaging. Is this just some odd quirk of getting the series onto DVD or was there some co-funding in the production? We don't have any info about DVD releases in the article yet but if someone ever adds some it might be useful to know why this happened. Thanks in advance for any response that you might give. It would be a guess, but perhaps they are marketed by BBC Video. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. Did you have a look at the Amazon.co.uk listing and see if anyone commented on it? That might tell you something.--Drmargi (talk) 15:47, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. Didn't find anything on Amazon UK about it. Cross marketing does happen but I don't remember seeing this ITV/BBC combo before. Not a big deal in the long run just my curiosity whiskers tingling. MarnetteD | Talk 16:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ben Bishop

[edit]

Just noticed that when I click on Ben Bishop's name (actor playing Finlay Mansell) I'm directed not to a page about the English actor (I don't think there is one) but to one about the American ice-hockey player - is that happening for anybody else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.157.89.24 (talk) 19:09, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If there is no article on the English actor would it not then make more sense for there to be no link at all attached to his name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.57.197 (talk) 10:32, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Main cast - issue over Fitzgerald

[edit]

Under main cast it currenty has "Christopher Fulford as D.C. Fitzgerald (Series 1)". However the character and actor are both in two of the three episodes the second series as well, although Fitzgerald is no longer a D. C. having been demoted and is not part of the team (and indeed turns out to be in the employ of the main antagonists in that series). Given this I wonder if it should be changed to "Christopher Fulford as D.C./P.C. Fitzgerald (Series 1-2)" or a note should be added to say he is in series 2, albeit no longer as one of the main characters/cast. I would welcome the opinions of other editors as to the best way to proceed. Dunarc (talk) 23:55, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
