Lawrence of Arabia

In my opinion, Lawrence of Arabia a poor example of the White Savoir theme. The story, as it's written for the screen, is rather about a man who mistakes himself for a white savoir, but learns quite rudely that he is not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.102.148.214 (talk) 21:23, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Right, but even then the white savior narrative still appears in the film, even if it does so in an ironic sense (The Man Who Would be King) or even as meta-commentary (which you argue to be the case here). The article is about the white savior narrative, and it is accompanied by list of associated films—it is not a de facto list of white savior films. Betty Logan (talk) 14:10, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Isle of Dogs a white savior movie?

Not sure if Isle of Dogs would fit under the white savior movie? I guess it is sort of b/c the main character is an American exchange student living in Japan, but she's not saving Japanese people -- she's saving dogs (which have been interpreted by some critics as substituting for a racial minority). But I would also argue it's the Japanese characters that do more of the work in rescuing the dogs. 173.71.122.33 (talk) 18:00, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948 film)

Hi all, in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (film) from 1948, Walter Huston's character 'Howard' is called upon by a gang of Mexican natives to cure their child of some ailment. All Howard does is wave the kids arms up and down, while a gang of locals looks on in awe, and the child slowly comes back from the dead. I'd add this to the list, but i can't find a source. Leaving this here for someone else to find eventually. Ridiculopathy (talk) 23:58, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

No Basis for "White Savior in Film" Assertion

The concept has no valid basis CowboyDr (talk) 06:18, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia does not concern itself with whether a topic has a valid basis, only notability. Betty Logan (talk) 07:06, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
