Jyoti Mishra is also the name of a contestant in India's reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2007. Consider removing redirction from Jyoti Mishra to White Town. asnatu (talk) 03:02, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some good reason this would not be called a "one hit wonder"? Fits the definition perfectly... 212.50.203.198 (talk) 18:15, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Genderqueer and Polyamorous

[edit]

I think Mishra being genderqueer and polyamorous is relevant 1^infy (talk) 17:15, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"I stated that the newly added content is primary-sourced, which is not preferred on Wikipedia. Additionally, I don't believe mentioning gender identity, and especially sexual habits, as being relevant to the White Town musical project."
self-published primary-sourced claims about themselves are listed as acceptable
Also since it's a page about Jyoti Mishra, his gender identity is absolutely relevant and polyamory isn't a sexual habit it's an identity 1^infy (talk) 17:28, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like we're going to disagree on a couple of points, but let's discuss it.
- can you explain why you believe it's important to mention a person's gender identity on a page that relates specifically to a musical project?
- polyamory is not an identity, it's a sexual preference/lifestyle/habit: Polyamory. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 01:19, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's both a page for Jyoti Mishra and White Town, I also added those in the personal life section and both of those are part of Mishra's personal life, just like being straight-edge and Marxist are, I don't care what your views on genderqueerness or polyamory they are objectively parts of Mishra's personal life, also even if you don't think they are relevant, why did you remove the categories when Mishra falls under those categories? 1^infy (talk) 15:53, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I thought we could find common ground on this, but that will be difficult if you say things like "I don't care what your views on genderqueerness or polyamory", especially after I shared a WP link on the topic with you, so I wasn't even stating a personal opinion. If you don't care how I feel about the discussion we are having, how do you expect to reach a compromise?
I'll reiterate that I'm happy to work with you in order to achieve a workable solution, but I think you need to take your own interests out of this and be a little more humble in your approach to other editors. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:58, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You stated that gender identity wasn't relevant to a personal life section, and that polyamory isn't an identity, both of those are personal opinions, also I never said I didn't care how you feel about the discussion, I said that regardless of your views on genderqueerness or polyamory, those are objectively parts of Mishra's personal life, seems like we got off the wrong foot so let's try to start again
You think that this page is just a page for the music project White Town, I have to disagree because it says it's about Jyoti Prakash Mishra known by the stage name White Town, there is a personal life section, both being genderqueer and polyamorous are relevant parts of Mishra's personal life just like being straight edge and Marxist are, they are also categories Mishra belongs too so I put Mishra in those categories 1^infy (talk) 16:38, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, the page is more than about the White Town project. Polyamory isn't an identity, however. Did you read the WP link I shared?
Anyway, as both the categories of genderqueer and polyamory are used for individuals on WP, I suppose it's only fair to include the information here, so I concede your point overall. Thanks for discussing :) Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 17:11, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So can I revert to the changes I made? Thanks 1^infy (talk) 18:11, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Genderqueer and Polyamorous sourcing

[edit]

@1^infy and Revirvlkodlaku: This is a WP:BLP article. All content must be reliably sourced. From WP:BLP - All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source. Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. The content, which is sourced to the user profile on a social network aka WP:BLPPRIMARY source, is being challenged at Special:Permalink/1146111508#Social media source that other primary sources and any secondary sources could not be found. As such, I'm removing the said content and categories until it is backed up by reliable secondary sources. (cc @QuietHere:) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 21:59, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't WP:BLPSELFPUB validate this situation? -Xdtp (talk) 22:57, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Here they state they are loosely polyamorous and agender https://mathstodon.xyz/@Jyoti@mas.to/110069497056172038 1^infy (talk) 00:20, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@1^infy Thanks for the effort, but there seems to be a lot going on in that post. I am of the opinion that since this is not a straight forward fact (like date of birth, education) and that there is an ambiguity in the post, it would amount to interpretation/analysis of a primary source which we can't do. Perhaps you might want to post at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard ? — DaxServer (t · m · c) 04:42, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Once you do, please ping me from that discussion — DaxServer (t · m · c) 05:07, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
