About the White Rose

Dab?

[edit]

I think in this disambiguation page, a reference to the meaning of a white rose should be writen (not related to the german white rose movement, but the meaning of the white rose itself, as a symbol)

I changed the bit about the anti-black organization mentioned - we're not in the 17th century, seems kind of ridiculous to call it "the XIX Century" instead of "the 19th Century". I also changed it to "   African-American" society, as "Negro" itself is pretty outdated, and to be fair, politically incorrect. I wasn't sure how to hyphenate when using "anti-" and a proper, hyphenated compound noun "African-American", as successive hyphens tend to link words together, and the goal should be to link "anti" and "African-American" rand not "anti" and "African" and "American". 24.86.144.101 (talk) 12:28, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm too little interested to seriously engage this discussion (in contrast to the less trendy Geschwister Scholl topic, above) but I doubt greatly that the ip-editor's take is an open and shut question as they presume!
Perhaps more to the point, I do "get" the construction
anti- African-American
but commend to colleagues this wiki-markup for it, since wiki-markup is on one hand not cold-type-setting, AND is a powerful-enuf tool that we can handle this semantic problem more clearly and durably, to wit,
anti- African-American,
which almost inconceivably could ever render as the ambiguous construction
............................... anti-
African-American .....
