[edit]Created a page to merge material from Light Night and White Nights with the non parisian-material from Nuit Blanche. Left Paris material at Nuit Blanche and left White Nights Festival (Saint Petersburg]] alone.AMuseo (talk) 17:28, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
muddle?
[edit]No, the all-night, northern european, "white nights" is not the same as the "light night" festivals: the former are summer events using the natural all-night light, the latter are winter events held on dark nights (and not necessarily all-nighters: the Leeds event starts around 5pm as it's getting dark, and goes on until the small hours but with not many events after midnight). This article confuses the two very different events, and needs to be disentangled. PamD (talk) 19:55, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- I do see your point. One perspective would be that this is a kind of event that happens because of the wonderful all-night twilight in northern latitudes. But is we define it that way, what do we do about large summer festivals in places like Tel Aviv, where darkness falls at more or less the same time every day of the year, but where the local organizers of a local call their all night, summer arts festival "White Night" and describe themselves as inspired by and imitating the Saint Petersburg festival? Is the phenomenon defined by the physical causes of its origins, or by the perspective of the people who have adopted both the idea the name? I genuinely don't know. But I have no objection to moving the British material back to its own page.AMuseo (talk) 15:45, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Adding to the confusion, Finland's a Night of the Arts is held in late August, according to its Wikipedia article. Nights in Finland are already completely dark. But still warm.AMuseo (talk) 15:52, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Link to film?
[edit]There is a Wikipedia article about the 1985 film by this name. I think there should be a link from this page to that one. What's the best way to do it? Marzolian (talk) 16:54, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
Update
[edit]There is a disambiguation page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Nights However, there's no obvious way to get to it from "White nights" (lowercase 'nights').
