Critical Reaction section

[edit]

Tim Dirk's website, Greatfilms.org is a personal web site. A lot of people like it. But it's still a personal web site which means it's self-published source and shouldn't be used in the Critical Reaction section. See WP:SPS. I know the man loves films but I don't know his background, is he a film scholar? Has he been published else where? Has he written a book on film criticism? - Buster 23:59, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added quotes from the NYT review and the Rotten Tomatoes rating. Tim Dirk is one of the latter's reviewers, for whatever that's worth. Clarityfiend 15:56, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's an excellent addition since Rotten Tomatoes uses both professional and "amateur" web critics to compile their overall rating for a film. I'm still having a problem with the Dirks line. This article is rated "High" in importance and to move beyond "Start" class and move up higher in a rating it will probably have to go. - Buster 20:08, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Common sense makes me think it should be included. Look at the totality of his his work and what each article contributes. In addition both of his sites has been around for a long, long time. Sure anyone can publish, but can they publish as well a sit as Dirks has. Yet, personally, I've only included Dirks as an external link and not as a critical reception source. I think in a key scene in "Juice" (1992) the protagonists are watching the end of "White Heat". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.187.97.134 (talk) 16:24, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When Max Allan Collins was writing DICK TRACY in the 1980's,Flattop's criminal daughter Angeltop was cornered inside a scientific facility.Atop a fuel tank, she blew herself up with dynamite, yelling "Top Of The World,Pa!" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.35 (talk) 12:47, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
