Source of name
[edit]I added the statement that the station was named after the White City amusement park, based on this:
"There is a White City, ex-amusement Park in three other cities namely London, Sydney NSW and my hometown, Melbourne,VIC. Each of these is a former suburb.", found here.
From this, I consider it very likely that the station was proximate to the White City amusement park and named for this reason, although I'm not absolutely sure. If anyone knows for sure they can confirm or delete the statement. Herostratus 08:15, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- I found nothing of the sort when I was writing the article, and a brief search just then found only references to the park at Rushcutters Bay. I'm not convinced there even was one in Melbourne, and if so, that it was anywhere near this rather industrial suburban area. Ambi 11:37, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
