"Minor taxa"
[edit]User:Melchoir: I am wondering why several of the taxonomic levels have been removed from the taxobox recently, specificly the Subclass Orthogastropoda, and the superorder Heterobranchia? Kevmin 09:05, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life/taxobox usage#Classification, "Taxoboxes should include all major ranks above the taxon described in the article, plus minor ranks that are important to understanding the classification of the taxon described in the article, or which are discussed in the article. Other minor ranks should be omitted. ..."
- In this case, the precise location of Pulmonata within Gastropoda is really a matter for the Pulmonata article. The taxobox is already huge, and there's no need to make it as large as possible! Melchoir 19:01, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Species
[edit]I always thought that two different species could not mate together, and produce fertile offspring? So how can grove snails be considered a different species if they can mate together. -Neil.
- The article merely states that they can reproduce, not that the offspring are fertile. --Stemonitis 07:25, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, could somebody state that if they have the evidence. Would remove a glaring inconsistency. GrahamBould 20:43, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
