I made changes to the article and stated why, if The Herald would like to explain why my edit wasn't valid that is fine but at least hve the courtesy to explain. I may not have a username but that doesn't make my contribution vandalism so should not be simply reverted without reason — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.227.109.237 (talk) 16:06, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
I am from the area and i noticed the article was written in a very biased way, i did put a brief explanation with my edit. The metro centre is located near to Whickham but is not in Whickham and is not referred to as such, the photo makes no sense on the wikipedia entry for Whickham. Also I edited alot of the language used as it was clearly trying to promote the area as more affluent than all of the surrounding area which is incorrect. The article had very little in the way of actual references so i amended as i saw fit and made it into more of a fitting encyclopedia article rather than the previous editors opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.227.109.237 (talk) 16:12, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Nice job. But you can't just go on and edit wikipedia. Here, you must follow some rules. You must give a summary describing the edit made. You then provide a clear reference for any addition you make. You have done neither and hence your edit was reverted. IO am reverting it now and next time keep these things in mind. It would be also better if you could create an account and then inform me and I'll guide you next. Herald talk with me 16:30, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
You say i have done neither but I did leave a brief description on march 4 which you undid without explanation, why did you do that? Please read the two edits before reverting and explain why the original is a better article with more fact? Surely that is whats important not whether there has been a note left for YOU. I do not want an account, I rarely make changes but when i do they are on small articles like this with barely a reference. If you look over the old edits you will see the Metro Centre picture has been discussed before, it is NOT in Whickham, it is NOT referred to as Whickham Metro Centre. It is nearby, but there are arguably two towns between the Metro Centre and Whickham, the upper part of Dunston and Swalwell. You seem more bothered about being correct in your revert rather than the actual article. I feel I have explained myself well enough so feel free to explain yourself better, and actually read the two edits side by side to see for yourself why it has been changed rather than seeing an IP delete data and simply revert. I will also post this on the articles talk page so we can discuss further there, after i revert back to my edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.227.109.237 (talk) 16:41, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
I am happy to discuss the changes I have made with you and whether the article has actually been negatively affected however it appears the only problem with my editing is my lack of account. I have repeatedly explained my edits to The Herald only for the changes to be reversed without discussion. I feel i am better suited to writing about this particular article. A shorter but more factually accurate article is more important than whether a prolific editor such as The Herald has decided I should not be allowed to edit without an account. My changes make sense, are not opinion and actually change many opinionated parts of the article. It should be neutral and it is nor more neutral than the previous edit. If you can suggest some middle ground, or think there is a better way to make the changes i have made please feel free to discuss. However if you have a vendetta against non-account users and are deleting for any reason other than the integrity of the article then continue to revert an article you clearly have no first hand knowledge of. As a local to the Whickham area I feel you should value my contribution. The bottom line to me is that a shorter factual article is better than a long opinionated article.
