Reform or Conservative
[edit]Elsewhere in Wikipedia it says he is a Conservative Rabbi. Here it says Reform. Is there an answer? 217.43.43.63 20:50, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
He is a Conservative Rabbi with Reconstructionist Leanings. Here is a link to audio and Video versions of a talk that Rabbi Kushner gave the 2005 USCJ biannual, tittled "What Does It Mean to be a Conservative Jew."

Avi Da Jew
- The lower-case word "conservative" is confusing in this phrase: ". . . been criticized by some conservative scholars associated with Orthodox Judaism." If it does not pertain to Conservative Judaism a different adjective would be better.Casey (talk) 12:19, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Extensive Re-Write
[edit]I have entirely rewritten the Thesis section to account for Kushner's theories in greater detail. This is one of the more influencial Jewish books of the late twentieth century and deserves a more extensive and detail treatment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.179.89 (talk) 01:50, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
I am sorry to see that your re-write was taken out. Even if people disagree with the theological basis for Kirschner's work, it's worth knowing what it is and why he arrived at it. I heard him speak when the book first appeared (and not long after his son's death) and was impressed with the level of work he had done and the sincerity of his faith. Nuanced understanding of issues like soteriology deserve better exposure, especially at present, when so much that is potentially evil surrounds us.
If those who disagree want to present a reasoned riposte, they should do so. But reversing or removing valid arguments is jejune and unhelpful.50.245.61.156 (talk) 17:06, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
Broken Link
[edit]The link to Kirzner's criticism of Kushner is broken. Apparently Aish.com was hacked; when the site comes back the URL for Kirzner's critique may change. Thirty.OddSix (talk) 04:43, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Progeria
[edit]I found a web reference and added the fact that the book is dedicated to the memory of his son who lived since infancy with progeria and died at age 14. I've also added this book to the See also section on the progeria page. If I recall correctly, Rabbi Kushner writes of his personal experience early in the book. -- Deborahjay (talk) 16:39, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Another Suggestion
[edit]There is a theory about "Worse Things Happen to Bad People"--50.122.54.84 (talk) 14:50, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
