Large quantity of unsourced text.

My sense is that a great deal of text has just been added from existing sources... I fear wp:COPYVIO. No edit summaries. I sense a school project, maybe. All Much unsourced.- Sinneed 18:49, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Unless there is some discussion, I am going to stub the article up, using the sources given if practical. The sheer BULK of advertising is extreme.- Sinneed 18:59, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

  • On closer look, the material isn't straight copyvio, although rather closely paraphrased in a few places. But the hype, unencyclopedic language, and over-detail should definitely be pruned. This isn't an alternative web site for the college. If it is a student project, they would do much better to write a detailed history of the college using reliable, independent sources instead of simply re-phrasing the college web site. Merges

The salvageable text and images from Westfield State College Dining Commons [1], Davis Hall (Westfield State College) [2] and Courtney Hall (Westfield State College) [3] have now been merged into this article. The articles were about non-notable college buildings filled with unecyclopedic content, e.g how much it costs to use the laundry machines, how there is a Dunkin Donuts next door, and the obvious facts that bedrooms contain beds and study rooms contain desks. One of them also violated Wikipedia's privacy policy by listing the name and residence of a private individual.

Note to the students of Westfield State College, please stop creating individual articles on every minor aspect of your college. I strongly suggest that that you read College and university article guidelines, What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability. If this is a class project, please ask your course leader to contact both Wikipedia School and university projects and WikiProject Universities. In the meantime, concentrate your efforts on improving and properly sourcing Westfield State College. Voceditenore (talk) 11:03, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

I've merged salvageable material from yet two more articles written about Westfield State College buildings, The Horace Mann Center [4] and the Woodward Center[5]. Please note that individual buildings and sub-divisions/departments of universities and colleges are not considered suitable subjects for their own article unless they are highly notable and have been extensively covered in independent published sources. History of the Normal schools as a whole?

A good bit of the early history is common to all the Normal Schools/Teachers Colleges/State Colleges/State Universities of the Commonwealth, and even in general. Would it make sense to link to an article on these as a group instead? Anmccaff (talk) 22:05, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

I used Google books to search for five phrases present in the article in the book mentioned as the source. All five were present in the source with the sentence tweaked only superficially. Phrases in later section were not found but I cannot tell if that's Google limiting search functionality ("10 other sections not shown"). --NeilN ^{talk to me} 15:47, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
