Closed 1961?
[edit]Western market was still functioning when we moved to 21st & Eye Sts NW in early 1965 and for some time thereafter. We shopped regularly in the Safeway there, though the stalls were generally empty. It's my recollection that Hudson Greengrocers and Canon's Fish were still active then; at least their names still appeared on stalls. We bought a Christmas tree on the K St side no earlier than December 1965. Eventually the Safeway there closed and we shopped at Safeway stores on P St NW or in the Watergate complex or the international Safeway (¿12th St NW?). AndersW (talk) 20:55, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
