Vector.Ward (talk) 01:29, 16 January 2012 (UTC): I have inserted references from an independent national Australian broadcaster (ABC News, their Kalgoorlie desk), a News Limited publication (Sunday Times, known as PerthNow on the web) which is Perth's ONLY Sunday paper, and Western Australia's ONLY weekday newspaper (The West Australian). I am arguing that these are very independent; I would go so far as to say that if these are not considered independent sources, then it is impossible to create a page on wikipedia for a topic worth of inclusion, but nevertheless primarily focused on the region of Western Australia. I am also still working on the article.

the query is about notability not references. There are 100s of stories in major papers everyday that aren't notable enough for articles. Will results be published? Changes in team personnel? I doubt it. It is simply not a notable sport/league in WA. The-Pope (talk) 02:55, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Those 100s of stories are typically about topics completely independent of each other; Western Australia Roller Derby and rollerderby in WA more generally receives significant, independent coverage during its season, thus fulfilling the primary criteria for wikipedia notability.
