Bibliography section
[edit]Is this helping or hindering what is quite a small article? I have moved it to below pending any others' thoughts.Brookie :) - he's in the building somewhere! (Whisper...) 11:43, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- This Bibliography by the way has been added by User:Randal Bingley who features prominantly in the list! Brookie :) - he's in the building somewhere! (Whisper...) 11:57, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- It's a good bibliography of books and articles related to West Tilbury. Randal Bingley (the author, who may or not be the same as Randal Bingley the Wikipedia contributor) is a respected author who writes on the subject of Thurrock local history. As far as I can see, they are all secondary sources the would be acceptable as citations. I can see no reason why it shouldn't be reinstated. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 13:56, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- A list of 30 seems rather disproportional for a small article; 14 of them refer to Bingley R Brookie :) - he's in the building somewhere! (Whisper...) 10:13, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Charlesdrakew has requested citations for the landscape and geology section. A number of these are in the bibliography. I will add in-line citations and when something is used as a citation I will remove it from the bibliography below. For the time being I will keep a copy of it in my userspace. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 06:47, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I see no reason to remove this perfectly good bibliography. I am working through it to improve the article. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 16:26, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Notable people section
[edit]I have trimmed these down to the minimum; two of the three already have Wiki entries - so I have linked these in. An entry on a place isn't the place for long convuluted biographies. Brookie :) { - he's in the building somewhere!} (Whisper...) 10:46, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
I have added some of the material on Gervase of Tilbury, deleted from this article to the Gervase article. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 19:45, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Incomprehensibility
[edit]"The modern town of Tilbury is partly in its traditional area (including Tilbury Fort) but is buffered from it and mainly in the traditional parish of Chadwell St Mary."
I fail to understand this sentence in the introductory paragraph. Would a contributor like to rewrite it so that someone who has never been near West Tilbury might have some clue as to what he/she is trying to say. --Oldontarian (talk) 19:55, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- I have re-written it and removed the bit about Chadwell (which referred to Tilbury Town rather than West Tilbury). Rjm at sleepers (talk) 06:11, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
