[edit]Information that is not socially or culturally significant ought not be added. While deeming something 'socially' and 'culturally' significant is clearly a subjective value judgment, perhaps before adding something one should ask 1.) is the nature of the information of wider and larger importance and/or relevance? 2.) Is the information socially and culturally enduring? 3.) Is the information value neutral, and not simply a subjective judgment open for interpretation and debate? 4.) Can the information be verified? Discussions of the local courthouse and local fast food joints seemed a little trivial and falling short of wikipedia's general standard of what should be added. Unsourced material
[edit]The following is unsourced information:
- Abraham Lincoln's uncle, Fielding Hanks, is reportedly one of several that helped establish the town and county in 1822.
- War hero and Medal of Honor recipient William E. Barber was a graduate of the local high school.
- Author and Skeptic Joe Nickell was also a graduate of the local high school
While this is interesting, we can't use it unless you provide a source. Also, none of this is really trivia, as trivia by its definition is "unimportant information" - it therefore shouldn't be in a trivia section but instead the information should be incorporated into the main article. - Tbsdy lives (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk
