Lapwing Lane stretch

Closed when?
[edit]The original railway station closed when - 1961 or 1967? When tidying up the article I found references to both. --Jza84 | Talk 09:42, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- --There's also a bit of conflict over the early names of the railway station. --Jza84 | Talk 21:07, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- Butt (1995) shows that the station was opened 1 January 1880 as Withington; renamed 1 July 1884 to Withington and Albert Park; renamed 1 April 1915 to Withington and West Didsbury; closed 3 July 1961. Other stations on the line which, according to Butt, did close in 1967 (Chorlton-cum-Hardy; Didsbury; Stockport (Tiviot Dale); Cheadle Heath; etc.) are listed in the Beeching Report, but Withington and West Didsbury is omitted (as is Heaton Mersey), which not only suggests that a 1967 closure is unlikely, but that it had already closed before the Report was prepared. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:38, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
