The article is close to GA level, but there are several problems:
- The lead is supposed to be a summary of the article, which means it should not contain any information not mentioned in the main text. However, by between fifty and sixty colonists contains numbers that are not mentioned in the text, the colony was dissolved in late March 1623—this is not mentioned in the main text, and Called by historian Charles Francis Allen "ill-conceived, "ill-executed, [and] ill-fated" is not mentioned too. I think you should compare the lead with the text and add any new information from the lead to the text.
- Inline citations should be placed after punctuation marks, not before (see lead).
- There is a {{Verify credibility}} tag in the article. You should either find a new source or explain why the current source is reliable.
- Weston was associated with the Plymouth Council for New England which, fifteen years prior, I would say earlier.
I will read the article in more detail tomorrow. Ruslik (talk) 14:59, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I will review your comments and try and make improvements shortly. As for the "Verify Credibility" tag, this is a dispute I am having with an editor over whether or not the source if reliable. I have made a request for assistance on this at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and hope that I will get a positive answer. If not, then I have some additional sources on order, but it will take some time to rewrite the article to remove material that came from that source. (But I suspect that I can find alternate citations without a major rewrite, but I will want to be careful.) JRP (talk) 04:34, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have corrected #2 and #4. For #3, I have removed the specific line that tag referred to and am now in the process of reciting or removing all material from the Dempsey book from the article. Some time I can cut out until I find them backed up by another source, but I don't believe this should keep the article from being complete enough for GA. (I have added two more sources tonight and am going through them to adjust the article.) #1 will be worked on tomorrow. JRP (talk) 06:55, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Additional comments:
- To prevent a famine for both colonies The article should explain why both colonies were in dander of famine.
- but the mismanagement of supplies continued The same here: the nature of mismanagement is not explained.
- the arrest of Thomas Weston who had arrived in that colony in the Swan What happened to Thomas Weston ?
I will wait until you fix the lead. Ruslik (talk) 09:52, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Working on these now. I believe I have made all the changes from the above list and these should be easier. I may not get them done tonight however. JRP (talk)
Since my concerns have been addressed I will promote the article to GA status. Ruslik (talk) 09:13, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
