Real or fiction?
[edit]- "The Mascots are the world's first customisable mascots. They were formed from the last two drops of steel poured in a Bolton Steelworks to form the final girder of the 2012 stadium."
When one reaches this text, it's not very clear if it's referring to a fictional story about the characters or to some physical realisation of them. 86.173.169.144 (talk) 03:33, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
WHAT? Seriously, WHY is that line in the article?? This is an encyclopedia, not a cereal box. Jack mcdowell (talk) 05:45, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
I suggest tagging the article with {{Unencyclopedic}} until someone bothers to fix it Jack mcdowell (talk) 05:48, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- That line has been changed in the article since the above user made that comment. The story is still there, but it's referenced and in context. -- roleplayer 20:00, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Girder or Pipe?
[edit]The article says that they formed from pieces of a girder, but the animation clearly shows a pipe. I can't change it, because original research and all, but why does the article say girder? Tyrannophobe (talk) 01:37, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
The two videos' narration clearly states that it is a girder, also a pipe to the Olympic stadium makes less sense and is less symbolic.82.5.224.82 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:47, 19 September 2011 (UTC).

Resemblance to Kang and Kodos
[edit]If you are looking for evidence that the 2012 Summer Olympic Mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville, look like The Simpsons' Kang and Kodos to many people; just go to "Entertainment Weekly's photo gallery of Olympic Mascots, Best and Worst. Also go to Google.com and do a search of Olympic Mascots Kang Kodos. There are countless web pages from many people who do think they look like the one eyed aliens from the animated Fox show, including an article from the Los Angeles Times newspaper. I would not be surprised if the television program makes a reference to that fact when new episodes are aired in the fall.204.80.61.133 (talk) 18:34, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Bennett Turk
- I don't really understand it, myself. They look nothing like Kang and Kodos. Alright, so they've got one eye. Does that mean they also resemble Leela and Plankton? Anyway, the comparison does seem to have been made, though only in passing and only in blogs/user-generated content. I'm not sure it's even worth mentioning in this article - but if it is, I'd rather it be sourced, so I've added the LA Times piece for now. DoctorKubla (talk) 19:50, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
- They look more like characters from Tripping The Rift to me. Ptomblin (talk) 00:51, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Wrong location on Mandeville image
[edit]This is actually located in Victoria Tower Gardens not Horseguards Parade, though the mascot is wearing the uniform of the Life Guards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.157.152.68 (talk) 21:25, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Surprised this hasn't be corrected it's clearly not Horseguards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.36.44.4 (talk) 22:18, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, you're right. I've fixed it. Sorry it took so long. (Here's a source if anyone wants to verify the location.) DoctorKubla (talk) 06:42, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Wrong subtitle on first image
[edit]The picture says Wenlock (Right) and Mandeville (Left). It's the other way round. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kishengajjar (talk • contribs) 10:26, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Italics
[edit]Why is the title in italics? That's not usual for the names of characters. Grassynoel (talk) 12:47, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
