Article Issues

[edit]

Firstly, you know my view. I previously stated Wendy was not notable due to lack of storyline and minimal appearances. I read through the article and thought you had done your best to assert notability so thought I would leave it at that. Earlier, I was visiting the article and noticed the claim that producers created Wendy. I thought that was interesting as few characters have creation info readily available. I checked the source and it did not check out. It was original research, which maybe innocent enough - but someone else working for the show could have created the character such as a writer etc. So I decided to take a closer look and here are issues I found.

  • Sourcing: 20 sources consisting of 8 Digital Spy articles, 1 Metro, 1 Whattowatch, 1 Radio Times, 4 YouTube videos, 2 Instagram posts, 2 episode citations and 1 podcast. The article relies heavily on Digital Spy and social media posts. You also
  • Broken links: The 2 Instagram posts and Source 11 from YouTube.
  • The Youtube videos are all from the same interview but made into 3 videos. The third, source 17 is a video where cast discuss the finale. Leask randomly says "memorable" but she appeared in the background of that episode - why is this used in an article about Wendy Rodwell?
  • Source 20 - You state: "In the midst of Hendrix's diagnosis storyline, Kilkelly said that 'Wendy Rodwell seems to be everywhere'". This has been taken out of context and you suggest Kilkelly is stating Wendy is heavily featured in Neighbours. But he actually said of an episode, "Hendrix tries to turn to his loved ones for support, but his worst fears become a reality when Wendy Rodwell seems to be everywhere and her presence only makes him feel worse."
  • In Characterisation you state "Leask later called Wendy "kooky" and "truly optimistic when there are real challenges going on in life". The latter claim is sourced to Source 9 and she never called Wendy that. She stated of herself "Wendy has taught be about being truly optimistic when there are real challenges going on in life."
  • You state "Wendy was described as a confident mother by Simon Timblick of whattowatch.com" - Source 8 This is taken out of context. Timblick wrote "Even so, mum Wendy (Candice Leask) is confident they can win their new neighbours over with a good 'ol backyard BBQ." - Wendy is confident she can please her neighbours with a BBQ, it does not state she is a confident mother/confident in her approach to parenthood.
  • In the introduction section you reuse the instagram post "BE-YONDDDDD EXCITED" - That was casting info already mentioned.
  • In the reception: "Leask explained to Kilkelly that viewers initially had a lot of "animosity" towards Wendy in her first set of appearances, something she was not expecting, but Wendy eventually proved to be popular amongst fans and Isheev described her as a "hit" going by reactions online." - BIB is incorrectly cited to source 7.
  • Also taken out of context you state that "Kilkelly called the character "annoying at first", but "quickly warmed to her". He actually stated that Fans thought she was annoying but warmed to her.
  • "Upon Wendy's promotion to a permanent character, Digital Spy's Stephanie Chase said that Wendy and her family will "need to do some soul-searching as they question their place on Ramsay Street." - Is this reception info?
  • Kilkelly also said that Wendy had "a foot-in-mouth moment when she asked Lucy Robinson whether her grandmother would be joining them" and Laura Denby of Radio Times also commented, "Wendy Rodwell did rather spoil the moment by boldly assuming that Helen was still alive when she asked about meeting her!" - BIB is not cited to a source and barely reception info.
  • Numerous parts of the character reflection section could have been reworked elsewhere. The cancelled son and contract info in the character creation section.
Geepers, let's unpack this. Starting off, this article may rely on Digital Spy, however a lot of other soap opera articles do, so I am not too fussed with that, along with the 83.4% due to there being heavy quoting in the character reflection section, which I'll try to cut down. The references will be fixed, however I am still working on the YouTube one as I do not know why it is broken. I added the "memorable" part about the finale as it coincided with what was said later on in the sentence. "Wendy Rodwell seems to be everywhere" was not intentionally written to make it seem that Wendy was a prominent character, I added it in to reflect on her personaility. The Stephanie Chase information about soul searching I was unsure of, so just included it anyways. And may I ask what BIB is? - Therealscorp1an (talk) 21:48, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
BIB = Bit in Bold. Terrible internet slang. Be more fussy, paraphrase rather than quote stack. I was told off constantly when I first joined for it. I do not think you did it on purpose. I get it, when you like a character you want an article. But fanship and Wikipedia do not gel well. Wendy had the makings of being a classic character. But she isn't.Rain the 1 22:50, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
