Cuatro Cienegas

Possibly also notable was his work in Cuatro Cienegas (Mexico). I lack the knowledge of the science and the ecology to add to the article, but he was mentioned in Science (AAAS magazine) July 3, 2020 issue as recognizing the need to protect the area from farming/water usage in "the 1970's" and organizing a NASA project in 1998 (extremophiles). Dr. V. Souza Saldivar was recruited (she's apparently written a relevant book) and has been important in partially protecting the area.
