Possible Origin
[edit]Given the proximity to New Offenburg, I could imagine that the name originates from the parish 'Weingarten' which is located in the village of Zell-Weierbach, today a suburb of Offenburg, Germany. The article about Zell-Weierbach in the German Wikipedia mentions in its history section that in 1850 several people from the village have left Germany to settle in the St. Genevieve region in Missouri. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DerBadener (talk • contribs) 12:10, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
