Indian weddings are different from the weddings all over the world in custom , tradition and rituals although it is part of the subject WEDDING yet it has to have a page of its own and moreover Indian wedding has also to have many pages such as Marwari weddings south Indian wedding traditions event or events (almost Original Research) - and looking much like a personal photo album. I think this page is refering to Hindu weddings in particular, not to Indian weddings, irrespective of religion. If that was the intention, consider contributing instead at the Hindu wedding article. Pacotqa 14:18, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
This needs to be rewritten to cover ceremonies other than Hindu Wedding. Right now, it is just a fork of Hindu Wedding. --Ragib (talk) 22:22, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Agree with Ragib and Pacotqa, there's not much information of use. Most of this article is directed to Indian/Hindu weddings. If this article is for South Asian weddings, we've lost all the other countries! This should be a complete rewrite. I'll brainstorm ideas... -- Sapphirecut 23:19, 07 November 2013 (UTC)
Not very much information on this page; as an example, Mehndi should be added? Syhon (talk) 01:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
One of the sections which needs to get added is how can people do some background investigation on bride or bride groom. Lot of the marriages or shaadi becomes failure as people do not investigate the person's background. This is especially very hard when the person is in overseas. Quick ways to do some investigation is do a background report (Applicable in USA) or do some search on the internet and social media. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sivaselva (talk • contribs) 14:19, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Many previously Hindu communities in South Asia still continue with many of their pre-islamic or pre-christian traditions when it comes to weddings. Hence strictly speaking although many of the "South Asian" wedding traditions are from Hindu past they continue into the modern South Asian countries like India, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh amongst the converted muslim and christian converted communities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.4.184.190 (talk) 17:30, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
I totally agree with the above comment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.192.211.56 (talk) 07:03, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Average cost of a wedding
[edit]I'm removing the assertion "estimated at costing on average £30,000 in the UK" due to a lack of source and the "average of £14,441" as this figure seems highly suspect because it is based on a small sample and disregards the ~75% of people who do not take out insurance on their wedding (source: Moneywise.co.uk)
