The result of the move request was: no consensus. We have several suggested ways to balance precision and concision here, but after a month-and-a-half-long discussion none of them quite seem to have garnered consensus. No prejudice against a follow-up RM at any time. (closed by non-admin page mover) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 05:39, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
Wedding of Gustav III and Sophia Magdalena → Wedding of Gustav, Crown Prince of Sweden and Princess Sophia Magdalena of Denmark – For constituency with other articles such as Wedding of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, and Princess Alexandra of Denmark, Wedding of Prince George, Duke of York, and Princess Mary of Teck, and Wedding of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands and Claus van Amsberg, where it uses the titles at the time of marriage. 67.173.23.66 (talk) 23:11, 22 April 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! - There was a relevant series of discussions in 2018 about article titles of weddings (Talk:Wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson#Requested move 3 July 2018, Talk:Wedding of Prince Albert, Duke of York, and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon#Requested move 13 July 2018, Talk:Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton#Requested move 19 June 2018, and perhaps others). WP:CONCISE was a key concern then, as was the related concern of being more WP:PRECISE than necessary. Would a shorter title be acceptable here? Perhaps "Crown Prince Gustav" and "Princess Sophia Magdalena" (without "of Sweden" or "of Denmark"). Adumbrativus (talk) 08:14, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
- That seems acceptable.67.173.23.66 (talk) 20:18, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:CONCISE. The article name doesn't need to cram in every royal title. If there's another wedding between people named as such, then this can be reconsidered. SnowFire (talk) 02:33, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- My concern was more that the current title is anachronistic, as Gustav wasn't King yet at the time of his marriage.67.173.23.66 (talk) 23:26, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- I would be fine with Wedding of Gustav and Sophia Magdalena then, since it appears that his article simply refers to him as "Gustav" before his accession to the throne. (Also, reading the article, ick, seems like it could use some cleanup... "Even his most hostile teachers were amazed by his combination of natural gifts" without a citation? Yikes.) - The prior suggestion of Wedding of Crown Prince Gustav and Princess Sophia Magdalena would fix the problem of length, but still keep their royal titles in the name.67.173.23.66 (talk) 22:37, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
