Tall Poppy Syndrome

[edit]

I have deleted the reference to tall poppy syndrome because it is supported neither by evidence nor argument. Tall poppy syndrome relates to criticism of successful people. The strategy of voting off high-scoring players in Weakest Link represents rational, not emotive, play for a self-interested player. Only an irrational player would choose to allow a stronger player to win. By voting off the strongest of three players, for example, the remaining two each give themselves the best chance of winning. No other strategy achieves the same end. Name | Talk" 11:28, 30 September 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark R. Diamond (talkcontribs) [reply]

Introduction

[edit]

Shouldn't the British version of the show page now begin with 'The Weakest Link WAS and NOT 'The Weakest Link IS ', since it no longer appears to be in production in the UK, as mentioned in the article introduction?

I don't want to edit it yet without checking first.

Any opinions?

Ignore the above, just found the update has already been applied.

"The" Weakest Link...

[edit]

On the table of international version, the English title is repeatedly written as "Weakest Link". I am aware that the "The" is omitted from the title card, but it is known as "The Weakest Link" and the corresponding article titles are likewise. Reply "The" is currently omitted from the title, but it earlier was included on the title card. For some reason or another, the producers chose to remove it from the title card, and the Wikipedia followed suit; continuing to do so to this day. Therefore, "Weakest Link" is the correct title, and should be referred to as such. Newellington (talk) 18:30, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update The name of the article has been changed to match. Someone please help me out by eliminating all references to "The" Weakest Link and replace it with just "Weakest Link". Newellington (talk) 15:29, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Katie Boyle

[edit]

In 2004, Katie Boyle was a guest on a special Eurovision-themed celebrity version of The Weakest Link on BBC1, hosted by Anne Robinson. In a unique moment, Boyle became the first, and to date the only, contestant ever to vote herself off the programme.

I don't think that various non-English franchises are notable in themselves. Like this Polish one - merge the name and few sentences here, and that's it. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:07, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
