[edit]The Wawona is in rather bad shape, and is in danger of losing its current resting place. Someone may want to do some research into this and update the article from citable sources. - Jmabel | Talk 21:13, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Status update
[edit]Today's Seattle Times ran a story that the Wawona is being towed to dry dock on Lake Union: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008811565_webwawona04m.html.
I agree that it would be good to flesh out the info on this page with more history. As someone who grew up in Kirkland, WA, I remember touring the Wawona as a kid, when she was moored at the Kirkland pier on Lake Washington, but there's no mention of Kirkland moorage on this page. - By all means, continue posting links to any articles you come across; this page may not be anyone's pet project, but passing editors are much more likely to flesh out an article if the sources have already been found. I'll get around to it myself eventually if nobody beats me to it. And, of course, you're free to add the information yourself, though it's important that everything be referenced. Let me know if you'd like help with anything. --Fullobeans (talk) 04:03, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved to Wawona (schooner), with Wawona (ship) created as a redirect. There's also a rough consensus to move the dab page to the base location. Jenks24 (talk) 17:49, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
Wawona → Wawona (ship) – I'm not familiar with the ship, but according to traffic statistics, Wawona, California has received almost three times as many views in the last 90 days as Wawona, despite the latter being the primary topic. I propose to move this article about the ship and change the primary topic to Wawona, California. Benny White (talk) 01:35, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Support per the stats provided in the nomination. A search on google, google news, or google books confirms that the boat is not a primary here.--Yaksar (let's chat) 02:54, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Renaem this article; replace with the disambiguation page -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 03:34, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Move Wawona (disambiguation) here, that is? I considered that, but it does seem like Wawona, California is the primary topic to me. Benny White (talk) 05:35, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, move the disambiguation page to this location -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:17, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- Move Wawona (disambiguation) here, that is? I considered that, but it does seem like Wawona, California is the primary topic to me. Benny White (talk) 05:35, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Comment. I have no view on which should be the primary topic, if any. However, if the intent of the proposed change is supported, it should be changed to Wawona (schooner) as, by convention, the "ship" disambiguator in titles refers to a ship-rigged (ie fully square-rigged) sailing vessel. Davidships (talk) 13:45, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- Support per Davidships. His point about "ship" versus "schooner" should be followed: we shouldn't ignore a naming convention. Given the hit counts, I don't see a good reason not to consider California at least as significant as the schooner; under the current page names, it's not as if you could end up at California while looking for the schooner article, but you could definitely end up at the schooner when looking for California. No opinion on whether Wawona should redirect to California or whether it should be a disambiguation page, but it shouldn't be the schooner page's name. Nyttend (talk) 22:31, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- Support move to either ship or schooner (I don't know anything about boats and how they should be named), and replace this with the disambiguation page. The city in California doesn't even get as many hits as the Wawona Tree. kennethaw88 • talk 21:57, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- Comment It looks like we're leaning toward moving the dab page here. My reasoning for redirecting to Wawona, California is that I would be less likely to say "Wawona" by itself for Wawona Tree or Wawona Hotel. But disambiguation might be the best route to go. And yes, Wawona (schooner) is probably the right name for this article. Benny White (talk) 01:34, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
