[edit]The "clear water" etymology from some unidentified "Indian language" is typical fanciful etymologizing of American Indian words based on (probably) apocryphal stories documented in the first half of the twentieth century when sensitivity to Native American languages and cultures was minimal and almost entirely on the level of "the noble Red Man". The etymology found in Bright's scientifically-based "Native American Placenames of the US" is undoubtedly accurate, as it's based not on fanciful stories, but actual linguistic research with a respect for the different languages and cultures underlying them. --Taivo (talk) 17:18, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
