history section lede
@HangingCurve: Can you shed light on your intent via these [1] [2] edits? I strongly object to first part of the edit (the modern and colloquial "WSU" has no place as the very first word of the "History" section), but am relatively indifferent to the second part. I've therefore reverted the full WP:BOLD edit per WP:BRD to the current consensus version, rather than attempt to parse your intent as there is related content in the two areas. - I had no adverse intent in including the abbreviation in the first part ... so the opening was the main issue? How about saying "The university was established ..." HangingCurveSwing for the fence 02:20, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
- Plus, I found this in the cited article: "Neill said WSC actually has been a university since its inception and the college faculty and students have lacked academic prestige to which they have been entitled." HangingCurveSwing for the fence 02:23, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry but I disagree. "Alumnus wants alma mater (and his own degree) to be perceived as more prestigious" doesn't seem like something that even warrants a mention. ElKevbo (talk) 03:48, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
- Except for the abbreviation, I very much prefer HangingCurve's proposed first sentence ("WSU was established by the Washington Legislature on March 28, 1890 as Washington Agricultural College and School of Science..."). I like opening the section with the present name but immediately following up with its founding name; that makes it all very clear for readers to understand. ElKevbo (talk) 03:52, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
