1. Is it reasonably well written?

   A. Prose quality:

   The project failed, however, through conversations concerning Envirocare and her work at the Environment Liaison Centre, UNEP made it possible to send Maathai to the first UN conference on human settlements, known as Habitat I, in June 1976. clumsy phrasing.

   In the later half of the 1980s, the Kenyan government came down against Maathai and the Green Belt Movement. Could this be better phrased?

   Maathai was defeated in the Party of National Unity's primary elections for its parliamentary candidates in November 2007 and chose to instead run as the candidate of a smaller party. What is the name of this smalller party?

   The article is well referenced. Ref #67 is a dead link. it would be better if the on-line references were consistently formatted using WP:Citation templates.

   A large number of references, e.g. those to Unbowed are self published sources. Can any of these be replaced with WP:RS? This would be good especially where the material may be considered contentious.
