Someone has tampered with his record. Starting with UFC 99 when he fought Rich Franklin, he lost a unanimous decision. Missing fights: KO Loss to Chris Leben at UFC 132. TKO Win over Cung Lee Round 2 UFC 139. Unanimous decision Loss to Rich Franklin at UFC 147. Finally a KO win over Brian Stann at UFC on Fuel TV 8. He also never fought Yoshihiro Akiyama. Tattoos
[edit]what does the text tattooed on wanderlei's arms say? he said in an interview that the one on his right arm is from the bible, but didn't specify.. this info could be added to the trivia section if someone knows. Tjenare 22:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- On his left shoulder the tattoo reads: "Deus é fiel" or God is faithful. If you find a link to an image in which I could read the other tattoos I could translate if for you. Loudenvier 14:33, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Wanderlei Silva Faces Ricar.jpg
[edit]Image:Wanderlei Silva Faces Ricar.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Year Off?
[edit]Should it be mentioned that Wanderlai thought about taking a year off to focus on training and spend more time with his wife and children? And it should be mentioned that he has a wife and children.(MgTurtle 04:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC)).
- That's not actually true. The article regarding the "year off" was mistranslated. If you accurately translate the article the time off between fights had to do with the odd situation PRIDE fighters had with their contracts when Zuffa purchased the organization. Thesaddestday 08:57, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Okay what abut anything about him having a wife and children or was mistranslated also?(MgTurtle 03:23, 9 August 2007 (UTC))
- He definitely has a wife and kid(s) (honestly I don't know how many kids). But The Fight Network originally mistranslated a bulk of the article from Tatame and they ended up with the wrong reasons why he was taking time off. You can find video of him playing with his son online, and I'm sure a lot of info stating his family's names, etc. Thesaddestday 05:32, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Wanderlei leaving Chute Boxe
[edit]At some point, the article will need to be amended to show that Wanderlei no longer trains primarily under Rudimar Fedrigo at Chute Boxe in Curitiba, Brazil. Wanderlei moved to the U.S. on Aug. 3rd, 2007, and is said to be affiliated with Randy Couture's Xtreme Couture gym. It hasn't been verified to this point whether Wanderlei will maintain ties with Chute Boxe.
TurnMan 04:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- For one, he didn't move to NV, he moved to FL. He's also opening a new Chute Boxe branch here. There is a very recent interview on tatame. People just jumped to conclusions because he moved to the US and trained a bit with Randy. This rumor got way out of hand. Thesaddestday 02:15, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Wanderlei has split from Chute Boxe completely. "I am not affiliated with Chute Boxe. We are separated, because I wanted to start my own team."
He has never at any time said that he had plans to open a Chute-Boxe affiliate gym.
Also, he IS currently training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. His residence appears to be in West Palm Beach, FL., but he's definitely training in Vegas.
The 2nd answer and the last answer in the referenced Q&A below (done Oct. 16, 2007) with Wanderlei should put this to rest:[1] TurnMan 04:50, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- The article's reflected that for a while. Also, the Q&A never addresses where he trains now, it just mentions that he trains with Couture... for all we know, this could be a one-off with Couture being a hired gun like Freddie Roach. east.718 at 13:57, 10/25/2007

Wandy's kids
[edit]It seems that Wanderlei's kids never grow up. In the interview made in 2006 they were nine and three. Now it is 2008.
Well... sometimes I feel that Wandy himself is not growing up, neither. He is such a braggart all the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.214.205.5 (talk) 09:34, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
source for silva's comments after chuck fight
[edit]i was just wondering why it says citation needed on this part of the page "The long-awaited match happened on December 29, with Wanderlei Silva losing to Chuck Liddell by unanimous decision. After the fight Silva said "win or lose I like to give the emotion for my fans"[citation needed]." their actually is a source for it. watch ufc 79, he says it after the fight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.195.13 (talk) 21:57, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I haven't heard anything on his next fight, and there is no source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ToddUWG (talk • contribs) 04:02, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Fighting Style
[edit]In the UFC undisputed 2009 game is Wanderlei Silva written as a Muay thai fighter and Wrestler. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.248.110.140 (talk) 12:44, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Facial Surgery
[edit]Wanderlei just went under extensive surgery to repair his browline that was littered with scar tissue, his broken nose and other various injuries from his career thus far. It was report on mmamania.com that this surgery was the factor for the bisping/silva fight to be called off. I strongly feel this should added as he(silva) believes these surgeries will give him an edge and a longer career. Can we go to a consensus on this please (Punisher88 (talk) 04:03, 6 September 2009 (UTC))
- Marcus Davis and Nick Diaz both had the same surgery. It isn't mentioned in Davis' article, but Diaz's has a simple one line mention. --Drr-darkomen (talk) 04:05, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- Make your case. Give us some links that we can work with that you feel best demonstrates the event for inclusion. Jonhan (talk) 04:20, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- I will do so asap, thanks for the consesus, also its not needing an entire seperate heading just inclusion into his UFC years(Punisher88 (talk) 05:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC))
Record
[edit]The record on Silva's page is wrong. his losses to Mirko (Cro Cop) Flipovic, Dan Henderson and Rich Frankiln were dropped (His record in the upper section is 37-10, and in the downer section its only 30-7). Also, his lost to Jackson happened after his win over Jardine, you can see the date. Training

Early fights setups?
[edit]I don't know much in this domain, but Chael Sonnen (yes, a mouth, but he says others back him up), says:
- when he was fighting in Japan (...) those were fake. (...) These were set-up matches (...) as soon as I said it, other guys started coming out and going, ‘Oh, Chael's right.' From Gary Goodridge to Mark Coleman, to Don Frye coming out, ‘Yeah, we were in the back and yeah, these were set-up.'
I'll leave it for others to decide what mention, if any, this deserves. Gronky (talk) 03:25, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Alleged release from UFC
[edit]The article states that Silva was confirmed released from the UFC on 31st May 2014. How is this possible when the date today (as I write this comment) is the 30th May 2014?
WRONG
[edit]I love Wiki but Wanderlei's whole career record is WRONG!!!!!!!!!! Fix it now!!!! Such a good fighter needs his record displayed on such a platform ACCURATELY!!!!! He DID NOT defeat Michael Bisping OR Yoshihiro Akiyama OR Rich Franklin. His last professional fight was in 2013 against Brian Stann NOT against Akiyama!!!! FIX THIS NOW!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.203.185.104 (talk) 09:21, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
Wanderlei never beat Franklin and never even fought Akiyama (though he was supposed to at one point before the fight was changed), although I see no reference suggesting otherwise anywhere on the page. And he most certainly DID beat Bisping.--Bluedeanie (talk) 15:36, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
