Disambiguation --> article about series
[edit]@Theramin: I'm not opposed to having a single article about the sculpture series, but perhaps you could ping some of the editors involved in the related article and/or submit a formal merge proposal so others can weigh in as well? ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:00, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- OK, well, feel free to have a discussion (formal or otherwise) if you want one. I don't see any reason why the works of Tony Smith should be exempt from the guidance at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Visual arts#Multiples, copies and versions:
- Where a work of art is produced in multiple copies, as with a cast bronze sculpture, a print, or works of decorative art produced under factory conditions, the article should as far as possible cover all copies, and normally should reflect this in its title and text, rather than specifying one location. The same generally goes for objects produced as a matching set, even if they are now separated. If the articles get long enough, it may be appropriate to give individual members of a set their own articles ...
- It is not just this sculpture - why do we have Tau (sculpture) and Tau (1/3) (and there was a Tau (AP) that got merged in) - Moses (1968) and Moses (3/3) - Throwback (1/3) and Throwback (3/3)?
- The answer may be something to do with Wikipedia:WikiProject Public art/TheArtistResearchProject/TonySmith. Theramin (talk) 23:25, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
@RichardMcCoy, GrahamHardy, Missvain, Jgmikulay, Slowking4, Nihiltres, and Randy Kryn: Just putting this discussion on your radar as editors of Wandering Rocks (2/5) and/or Wandering Rocks (4/5). Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:59, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- Subject to any objections, I'd propose just to redirecting Wandering Rocks (AP), Wandering Rocks (2/5) and Wandering Rocks (4/5) here. I can't see much point in keeping three separate stubby articles, when there is more content here anyway. Theramin (talk) 03:31, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- OK, have done as I suggested. I think we would also be better off merging Tau (1/3) into Tau (sculpture), and creating overarching articles for complete series where we currently deal with instances of a series separately. Theramin (talk) 00:31, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
