Proposed merge with High Street (ward)
[edit]This is one of many high streets and High Street (ward) appropriates the term for this particular one. Walthamstow Market is not exactly the same thing as the High Street Ward, but the Ward is not notable in its own right. Walthamstow Market is well known and worth expanding upon. It is unlikely that the Ward article will be developed further and anything that does not properly belong here, can go into Walthamstow. The Shops part of the content was taken from Walthamstow, where it has been reinstated. ProfDEH (talk) 20:27, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Unless we're going to create articles for all 10,661 wards, I would absolutely endorse this merge. --OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 09:47, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Longest? market, number of stalls
[edit]Is there a better source for Walthamstow Market being the longest outdoor market in Europe? Since there is at least one other (daily, 6d/w) market with a claim of being the largest in Europe, the Albert Cuyp Market in Amsterdam, there should be a better source than the Borough of Waltham Forest for this claim. Furthermore the claim could only reasonably apply for daily markets (I assume that 5d/w is enough to qualify for daily market), there are surely longer markets at annual or one-time-events.
Since the borough, the organization that is administering the market and the only mentioned source, states "over 350 pitches", the claim in the lemma of "about 500 stalls" is untrustworthy.
