Wine auction

This belongs in the talk page for a son who doesn’t have a Wikipedia page, so is going here. And it is not worthy of going in a main page, but might be of interest to a passing researcher.

Auction, on 29 July 1941: “Owing to the destruction of Messrs. Christie’s premises in King Street where it had been arranged that the Sale should take place, Messrs. W. & T. Restell by the courtesy of Messrs. Christie will hold the Red Cross Wine, Spirit and Cigar Sale at Derby House”. Lot 37, “Presented by Philip B. Spencer Stanhope, Esq., Widecombe” was 1 dozen “Smith Woodhouse’s” “Vintage 1908—Branded Cork”, which sold at 155/- per dozen. (My pictures 22790-9.) And on the same day lot 39, “Presented by Philip B. Spencer Stanhope, Esq., Widecombe”, was a dozen “Tuke Holdsworth’s” 1912, which sold to Chalié Richards for either 150/- or 155/-. JDAWiseman (talk) 21:13, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
