Confused
[edit]This article conflates details of Sir Walter Smiles, MP for North Down, killed in the MV Princess Victoria disaster in 1953 with someone else. RodCrosby 00:37, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Not confused at all!
[edit]No, it doesn't. Walter Dorling Smiles was MP for Blackburn, and then MP for Down, and then MP for North Down, and then he drowned when the Princess VIctoria sank. His mother, Lucy Dorling, was Mrs Beeton's step-sister. Lucy's nephew was Geoffrey Dorling 'Khaki' Roberts, KC/QC, rugby international for England and member of the prosecution team at Nuremberg. Roberts was my own great-grandfather. 82.4.193.83 (talk) 23:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
