"In Death There is no Irony" ~ Chan Li Wu
[edit]Nightingale passed away in 1996, ironically the same year as the band he was instrumental in forming--the Sex Pistols--reformed to critical acclaim. Should the deafening irony of this coincidence be mentioned?

[edit]So, I take it no-one has a pic of the guy? 82.181.201.82 (talk) 19:53, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Info on Wally and the Early Band
[edit]There seems to be some disagreement on various sites about the name(s) of those proto-Pistols, when Matlock joined (was he or was he not in the band with Wally?), and even whether Del Noone was or wasn't in the band. I went ahead and posted what seems to be a reasonable consensus of info, I might read around more later to find better sources. Or, I might not. I'm notoriously unreliable, you know. :) Eaglizard 10:46, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers. There didn't seem to exist any other proper place where to post the member roster of The Strand, so I posted it here. Hope you guys don't mind. I've seen references to said line-up pretty much all over the place, so I can't understand why it's so hard to find. Anyways, there it is. I also added the link as reference. Okay, it's a GeoCities link so it doesn't really carry any weight, but it was the first I could find. The line-up info is pretty solid, anyhow. 82.181.208.26 12:28, 16 July 2006 (UTC) (Girl Dame! Seemingly one has to have an account on each and every national Wiki...)

Is he even real?
[edit]Regarding the doubts to his actual existence, Wally Nightingale was interviewed by the journalist Jon Savage in his book 'England's Dreaming'. In his first autobiography 'Head On', Julian Cope also claims that he met Nightingale while tripping on LSD. Nightingale tried to start a fight with Cope by throwing a pint over him, but Cope disarmed him by admitting to his hallucinatory state and being generally baffling him.

[edit]The following was added a few days ago [1]. The author is clearly remembering, or claming to remember, events in which he or she participated. Sadly, it is unsourced. Paul B (talk) 20:09, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
it was getting close to being signed but the singer decided on women rather than music and left...i think he got scared, as it was dangerously close to the signing period and he even left before the MTV video was made. we gigged in London but Wal met up with "The Only Ones" singer that night, and together the got out of it on heroin.. the gig was marred by Wal keeling over on stage and spent the rest of the gig in the dressing room, I had to cover for him, but we got through it even after he fell against his amp, knocking his volume up to 10 and feedbacking badly. He did the same thing at the beat of the beast gig. The gig at the Brentford "Red Lion" later went without a hitch though and apart from him falling over because of the step on the stage.. it was a killer gig..very heavy. as we were.
