An important document has come to light bearing on the life of W C Devereux, namely the IMechE application form proposing him for membership. Here are its contents:[1]

The existing entries in the main article are based on obituaries written in 1952 whereas the IMechE proposal form is dated 1920 and, by its nature, will have been carefully completed. Unless someone would like to put a contrary point of view, I propose to make corresponding corrections and additions to the main article later in October 2020.
