Inclusion of HBP
[edit]As far as I can tell, HBP is not included in WHIP. The external link reference says BB+H. A quick check at baseball-reference.com indicates HBP is not included. 161.88.255.139 18:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

WHIP vs. ERA
[edit]Am I missing something? I thought ERA excluded unearned runs. After all, is is the "earned run average". Wschart (talk) 20:28, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
- it needs comparison. now, reading the article it seems they are essentially the same thing. 213.149.61.151 (talk) 19:46, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
needs further explanation
[edit]The article says that WHIP is a better measure of effectiveness against batters than ERA. How is that so? Someone who gives up a home run every inning has half the WHIP as one who gives up two singles every inning. I would think the second pitcher is being more effective. It has to be better explained why so many think WHIP is more important. 68.196.10.68 (talk) 22:04, 19 April 2022 (UTC)captcrisis
